Vinyl, tape, CDs and MP3 (for portability) all work well for me. I am not an anal retentive audio engineer with a pocket oscilloscope and I am usually playing music while doing something which requires greater concentration, so unless the playback is really bad, I don’t really care. Do you?
If you are just listening to prevent silence, CDs, MP3 and cassette tapes are great. If you are kicked back in your chair, listening to hear the music, exactly centered with the speakers—nothing beats vinyl.

Please, let’s not. You can’t beat digital for fidelity. Infinite fidelity. Pops and hisses are great for nostalgia, but not so much for music.
