My local mall, located in a very medium sized Ohio city, has been dying a slow death just like all the rest of the malls in the USA. However, it has made a comeback in recent years because when the Macy’s store shut down, they gutted it and remodeled it into a top of the line Hospital, complete with helicopter pad. All that staff and patient traffic has pumped a lot of new money into the shops and restaurants. It opened about two years ago. Now they are talking about expanding into the closed Sears store, which is also attached to the mall as an anchor store. The only anchor store left is JCPenney, which appears to be thriving. Someone should get an award for the transition.
Our town mall is just about dead, we have an Ollie’s, Goodwill, DMV photo place, a dollar store and a wine store left in it. The JC Penny’s was shut down and that took over a good portion of the mall, Ollie’s use to be a small Kmart but then that moved to a bigger building but that is now turned into a Rural King. We had a bunch of good places to shop until Walmart opened 30 years ago and they shut down a lot of our local grocery stores and mom and pop stores.

Considering the fact that malls are dying, Paige may never get her turn.

You’re only 14, Paige. You’d have to wait longer than that in order to retire — at least until you’re 67!

No sadder than what Jason does, when you think about it.
