Nancy’s already a success, why would she want to climb.

Some of my favourite Nancy strips are where OJ plays around with visual gags.

In this one, though, I think I like Poochie’s heroic visage compared to her usual goody smile. Assuming that’s Poochie of course, and Fritzi doesn’t have a picture of some random dog.

Fun fact: each of those pictures represents an iconic moment in the history of Nancy’s comic strip. If you go through the archive, you’ll figure it out pretty quick.

No, really. I’m serious. Just read the entire archive. You’ll see.

For real. Would I lie to you? :^)

I have never seen Poochie look so noble.

What a piece of work is Dog! How noble in instinct!

Doesn’t that attract MORE attention to the crooked picture?

Is OJ ever gonna go back to the robotics arc? I really want to see how that turns out!

The only complaint (?) I have with today’s comic is that Nancy would have used a far more economical expenditure of effort to achieve the result. Namely, why go out of her way to procure and set up a ladder? Because once having gone so far as to set up the ladder, it’s really a trivial effort simply set the picture straight at that point. No, a truly labor-minimizing Nancy would have simply knocked the other pictures out of alignment.

I get it: that would have destroyed the twist ending and made this a two-panel (and rather predictable) strip. But I do think that’s what the character would have done. Speaking of effort, I can’t believe I just wrote a two-paragraph treatise on a four-panel comic strip. I think I’ll just leave this comment here and hope nobody else notices that today’s Nancy is behaving out of character.
