Our country school kids played baseball at recess when weather was agreeable. Chose up sides at the beginning of the week (I was generally chosen last for some reason). Winner was declared at the end of the week. One of the kids had a book with baseball rules and was usually the umpire. Once in awhile a teacher would be umpire, but we didn’t think she really knew enough to be believable.

Didn’t some movie guy once say there’s no sniveling in baseball (or something like that)? Witch up, Broomie!
