Here in Raleigh, we have trees (poplars and mimosas for example) that drop leaves every season except for the most dead of winter. The poplars just got done with their “summer is hot and I am stressed and cranky” leaf-drop phase but they aren’t done yet – not until November. My neighbor just started blowing his leaves to the curbline which is very early because we usually don’t get a pickup from the city until right before Christmas (sometimes not until after the new year). Trouble is that he blows them into the road and the cars driving by inevitably bring them to my curbline because our property is at what seems to be a perfect point for leaves to build up, but not move on. So it becomes my problem.

I have woods on one side of my property. The leaves from the woods blow across my yard then blow back like a leaf tide.

It’s the circle of leaves
And it moves us all
Through despair of dopes
Through fail of move
’Til we find our peace
On the path untidy
In the circle
The circle of leaves
Quite a b r e e z e

Where do these leaves keep coming from?
The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind

It’s like the leaves seemed to notice that it was …
… “greener on the other side of the fence”.

Too much to unpack again for a Sunday. More coffee than usual:
1. Nature being Captain Obvious again?
2. This is the kind of self-awareness I observe so often … So close…
3. The grass is always greener. Even in fall.

The migration of the leaves is scheduled for moon o’clock.

Where on Earth do you get that kind of Fall change to your trees and yet still have full sunlight at either 4 am or 9 pm?
