Back in the early 60s when they closed the village pool on Labor Day they put goldfish in it for the kids to catch and take home. First, I was only 4 or 5 and I think that is where my irrational fear of squirmy fish came from. Second, what were they thinking?? Several tens of bad possibilities leap to mind.
