When I was younger I wanted my name up in lights…but Dear Old Mom & Dad wouldn’t let me change it to EXIT!

“I really get three wishes?”

“That’s right.”

“Well, I need some time to think about them.”

“Sure. Now what do you want for your remaining two wishes?”

The problem with making wishes, giving instructions, and going to auctions — among other endeavors — is that communication has to be very clear (cf. Amelia Bedelia, The Twilight Zone, and a variety of jokes and TV sitcoms too numerous to list here).

In this case, it’s just possible that the Wishing Star knows that this event will lead to the formation of The Cult of Ziggy, complete with lots of merchandising and personal appearances — so his name may end up in lights (in the way he meant it) after all.

Hey Ziggy, you only get one shot in life(so they say) don’t knock it if they came close!
