I have had many arguments with health ‘professionals’ over that ridiculous statement. Also the statement that your body ‘sees’ water as different to other liquids.
That’s how I look at it. Water is good but boring to drink but a 20g packet of Tang turns a 1.5L bottled taste wasteland into a flavor fiesta with only 4g of potentially harmful sugar.
Drinking a cup of Apple Tang right now (with “100% Vitamin C” and “REAL fruit extracts” with “NO artificial flavors,” according to the packet label). I feel healthier already.
Most doctors agree that the statement was pushed by the bottled water industry. It has no basis in fact. Yes, you need to be hydrated, but not float away.

Nothing like needing to pee every ten minutes all day and night.

Root Beer is caffeine free, so sip away no diuretic effect, so yes you’ll get hydrated, but drink at least a cup of sugar in the process.

My doctor told me to drink a half gallon of water a day. I’ve tried, but no can do.

Your kidneys have evolved over millennia to maintain homeostasis. Look up a urine color chart and believe it.

The water in your drinks do count. Because they are not all water, they don’t all count as 1:1, but they do count.

Water is still water, though it can do without the sugar that causes other major problems….

I drink more that each day. Well beer is mainly water.

Actually, that counts when it’s the amount of water intake you’re tracking, the problem comes in when it’s the calories you are tracking.

I believe that’s straight water, Ralph.
