National Acne Positivity Day. “On September 1st, National Acne Positivity Day spreads a message of acceptance and self-love while putting our best face forward. As many of us know, we judge our appearance more harshly than we do others’. Oftentimes, we allow an outside point of view to affect our confidence based on our appearance. There are days, where we judge each blemish and mark. Acne is a universal skin concern and is the number one reason to consult a dermatologist. The day encourages us to let go of the stigma associated with acne and take time to love ourselves for who we are. While our skin can make us feel vulnerable, we don’t have to give it power over us. Acne may annoy, frustrate, and hinder us; however, acne is a challenge like any other, one that we can overcome.” I was lucky. I had some very minor acne as a teen – just one or two zits every now and then. Nothing like others who had major cases of acne all over their faces.
No Rhyme or Reason Day. National No Rhyme Nor Reason Day on September 1st recognizes words that do not rhyme with any other words in the English language. Some unrhymable (or nearly unrhymable) words in the English language include:
WE DID IT!!! We survived another back-to-school season! School starts today for most school districts. As they do every year, there were hoards of shoppers in our stationery/back to school area yesterday, trying to find spiral notebooks, folders, 3 ring binders, pink erasers, pencils, scissors and other things, only to find we were completely sold out. I had to laugh to myself every time I heard people say that they’d have to go look at Target. Guess what? No school supplies left there, either (I haven’t been in a Target store for the past several years, but I’ve heard other shoppers comment that Target had less school supply stuff than we had. We had shoppers with young children still trying to buy school supplies at 10:00 last night. Those kids should have been at home and in bed at that hour! I still expect people to come looking for school supplies through the coming weekend, but the crowds will be smaller and we’ll finally have a chance to finish getting things straightened up and put away.
On another note, we got a pretty nice bonus this quarter. which is on our Sept 2 paycheck. My bonus was around $350. Bonuses are based on how many hours you work and you get an extra 25% added for having no points against you for being absent (you can use protected paid time off hours if you’re absent or tardy, but of course, we have a limited number of protected paid time off hours to use). It could be that this year’s back to school sales helped that. With COVID last year and kids being taught from home, school supply sales were pretty poor.
I don’t know if Shakespeare actually said that, but that’s a good quote. On anther note, saw three dragonflies and four chickadees while out walking today.

I have to admit. sometimes as I leave my house on my way to work, I envy the cats because they get to stay home and do nothing all day.

I only recall Mercutio noting that Tybalt shared his name with the King of Cats, and didn’t mean it as a compliment.
