OT- I work in the garden section of a large retailer. A week ago I was watering the plants, when I heard a cat yowling! It was coming from a large, car hauling, truck. When I looked under a lower car, I saw a frightened orange kitten! Long story short, I chased it from the truck and into the bushes, in my store’s parking lot where he began to yowl again. I told everyone about it and soon, I and an army of people were feeding this little baby! While it was afraid of people, it did seem to understand that those odd two legged beings did bring him food! Thankfully, one of the plant vendor’s mother, worked for the ASPCA! She set up a trap and a trail of food leading into the cage, and…she caught him! I’m so happy! Now he’s being socialized so that he can be adopted!
Chef’s special today is Herb-crusted Old-Boot with fresh rosemary and peppercorns. The boot is pan-seared, then finished in the oven. It is served over Spaetzle, with a Port Wine reduction.
Our Sommelier Mouse recommends a 2018 Gewurztraminer to accompany this culinary masterpiece.
Today’s strip is 100% adorable. Pucky is so good at covering these local interest stories! I just love his enthusiasm! And Lupin’s enthusiasm too. And Goldie and Elvis are also adorable. Are they there to review the new restaurant? It’s nice to see all of them promoting local small businesses.
Believe it or not, there’s a song called “Crazy Shoe Stew.”
“One day I was makin’ some stew (makin’ some stew)
My shoe fell in the stew (what did you do?)
I added some salt, it tasted OK
I called it shoe stew ew ew ew ew"
Each chorus is about another piece of clothing falling into the stew and the name of the stew keeps getting longer. It keeps tasting OK until his underwear falls into the stew at which point the lyrics just keep repeating, “Don’t anybody eat the stew.”

I love watching children “play” and explore the world. There is a saying that “play is child’s work”.

You keep sayin’ you’ve got somethin’ for me
Somethin’ you call food but confess
The cooking’s been a’messin’ where it shouldn’t has been a’messin’
And now someone else is hoping for all the best
Cause boots aren’t made for cookin’
But that’s just what kids do
One of these days these boots are gonna make an awful stew
Naaa
