“Common ground” sounds nice, but if you think “patriotism” means attacking the Capitol of the United States because you lost an election, there’s no ground common enough for both of us.
Someday long in the future (under many feet of ash) political-science paleontologists may discover the ancient fossils of American Democracy of the Anthropocene Era. —)
Will it seems that a lot of people believe that being on common ground means believing in Democracy. But in the United States of America it would be better stated that finding common ground would be easier if all believed in the republic form of government for that is what this nation is based on. I do admit the two forms of governing are often confused.
Nope. The common social and philosophical principles are the same and hard fought human and participatory rights. It is those rights that are being undermined by one party and many states of the republic without regard to common needs or good.
Plenty of common ground, when we cut out the right-wing populists, I mean not much left of the GOP, but I’m assuming we’re talking about people of reasonable intelligence and emotional IQ.
Empirical evidence shows that the frog in the gradually heated water gets out long before it boils, thus proving that many of us are actually dumber than frogs. Carmen and Winslow watch in rapt fascination as the stream of sand gradually covers them over. If it was raining, they’d look up and drown.
And all they had to do to stay on top of it was frolic, but I guess even frolicking with a purpose behind it is too onerous a task for them. Slackers.
These are times that try men’s souls unless you are an ultra-right cartoonist with two different cartoon strips. When things are NOT looking good for the Maga crowd you can basically cease the ultra-right or only use to mourn the passing of a famous person everybody liked or draw another American Eagle. Then use the other cartoon strip to display something that will not give a hint of political discord while waiting for the next universal political polling.
