Hmmm, Hinds should lay off of his Texans as they did manage to beat a dysfunctional Jags team. Their coach, Urban Meyer, is already making for gossip with his “unorthodox” approach to the NFL style of football according to the North Florida press. There are also rumors linking him to the USC job already though he denied them (kind of hard to say it caught his attention without losing the locker room if he has not already). I was watching the games at a bar and grill in Tampa last Sunday with a Jags fan, by the end of the first quarter of the Jags /Houston game he just looked at me and said: “Well, looks like we suck again.” The Jags looked unprepared as they were beat down by a below average opponent in a game where they were favored. Reminds me of Jameis Winston’s debut in Tampa vs Mariota and the Titans under Lovie Smith in 2015. They were curb stomped but did manage to come back to a respectable 6-6 record before tail spinning to 6-10. I know it is early but the Jags may be real fortunate to win 6 games this year under Meyer. Lots of great college football coaches do not fare well in the NFL: ask Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban.
The problem teams face going against a hot mess like Houston, is that complacency and hubris too often set in and surprise, surprise, much to the delight and amazement of Texan fans, and the embarrassment of their cocky opponents, Houston has miraculously won another one!

Not unless the Jets go 0-17 with their latest crybaby quarterback Zach Wilson, that is.

Sports Illustrated for Kids is what introduced me to Bill Hinds.

I can see the Texans getting at least four wins this season. Heck, they may even finish above last place in the AFC South.

The league needs to contract by 4 to 8 teams. Too many owners don’t care about the game, just making a profit.

There 1-1 already. That means the next 15 teams are in the clear.
