What he’s referring to might not be a reason to hire.

The letter must be full of expletives, poor grammar and poor spelling.

I have had chronic bouts with unemployment in my career. During the last two, I attended networking groups mainly to get out of the house and raise my morale.

The last group was exceptionally good. They even went so far as to conduct a mock interview with you and film it. You got to watch yourself and then the following week, they would sit down with you and critique it.

They also had group participation on how best to answer some of those “shoot yourself in the foot” questions.

They also told horror stories about the incredibly stupid things some people did at interviews. Big hint: lock your phone up in the trunk of your car.

Second big hint, never badmouth a former employer or boss. The most I’ve ever admitted to was that the company got bought out, the culture changed and it was no longer a match.

Yeah and don’t say " I’m looking for a better job".

We could read it this way – it says such good things about him that he realized that his current employer didn’t deserve him.

I left because of all the lies they told about my work ethic.

The best part is that they didn’t file for criminal charges.

Serious comment of the day: As a former employer, a bad reference was taken into serious consideration. Mentioning that the last few bosses were “jerks” was a huge red flag. However – with the shortage of help today, I think anyone gets hired. Can’t believe the young lady who waited on me at a major burger chain 2 days ago. Admittedly, nice but she made Lady Gaga look like an Amish woman!

The worst part is that he was self employed.

Two companies are fighting to hire him. The loser gets him.

He wasn’t fired with enthusiasm, so he was fired with enthusiasm.
