    Without knowing the final answer; you could make “b” anything you want. They should have included the answer at the end.

    @TStyle78 is correct. In order to solve for “b”, you need a real number on the other side of the equation. So far, “b” is the only variable, so there is really nothing else to solve for.

    The teacher don’t knows maths. You doesn’t gives an incomplete equation to solves. Maybe this is the new math they teaches at some places these days.
