You know that single individual that was “in space”.
No it didn’t, therefore for anyone with any kind of brains would realize that “man” refers to “mankind” which includes all humans.
And even if one was to take the extreme view that they in fact meant “male” when using “man” the book was written in 1957 and at that point there wasn’t any women that had been in space.
References like these do nothing, but divide people for no good reason.
