Did writing endless lines ever work for discipline?

I hated writing those sentences. Teachers ought to be able to come up with better disciplinary methods than that.

I wrote plenty of lines in my school days. Ain’t changed me a bit!

Hold several [perhaps three] pens together in one hand to write it across three lines.

Well Sally, you learned two important lessons today. How to spell. And that Life is not fair, but you have to keep on going down the path of life.

Ahhhh… the old “It Wasn’t My Fault” defense. Next she’ll tell us she “Din Do Nuffin’”. Some things never grow old and are more alive and well today than ever.

1000 times does seem extreme

If nothing else, Sally will know that she has someone to talk to who won’t judge her…

I had grade school teachers like Sally has. Mean old things! They were quick to accuse you of a transgression, and just as quick to punish you for it. They never did believe you when you told them it wasn’t you.

So Not Me was to blame.

If a kid is caught writing on the blackboard while the teacher steps out, is he forced to write “I will not write on the blackboard” on the blackboard a hundred times?

Who needs adults to cry to when there’s School Building?

Today any teacher who demands a student write the same thing a thousand times would be considered child abuse.
