I bought a programmable alarm clock. It makes a noise like a can opener and the cat does the rest.

12 midnight, 2 am, 4 am, – bathroom.. to well “you know” like a horse…!

I reckon that’s because the dripping tap might not necessarily be regular and rhythmical, which means you’re more likely to notice and be aware of it. A beeping alarm can become background noise – like very loud white noise.

Maybe the latter was a result of the lost sleep caused by the former?

Yep, I can definitely relate.

I always sleep with a fan on anyway; it’s been my white noise machine long before white noise machines, ASMR videos, or apps were even things.
