Right from when our Shilo was a puppy, we would take him to the Vet as often as we could even if it was just to buy his worming and flea tablets. The people there are great. They always made and still make a huge fuss of him and he loves it. He loves going to the Vets now. In fact the response he has when we say "do you want to go to the Vet’s is the same as when we ask him if he wants to go for a walk. He gets all excited jumps in the car and off we go. But there is a serious side to this too. If, God forbid, he were ever in an accident or very ill, at least he knows and trusts the Vet, so if he was in that situation, he would know that he was being looked after by a friend and the whole experience would be less traumatic for him and he would feel more at ease. This is very important, especially if he was bleeding and if he was frightened, his heart would beat would beat quicker and he would loose more blood and that could be fatal. Getting your pets, what ever you have, used to your Vets as early as possible is vital. And they certainly won’t mind seeing them. After all they are there because they love animals and would love seeing your furry friend too. In fact, it would probably make their day.
The vet who treated our first dog had an office right next to my grandmother’s house, Gus would think he was going to visit Nana, then get a shock when we pulled into the parking lot next door!

I would the travel crates in my truck and take them to the dog park every day for a week or so, so they wouldn’t associate the crates with the vet.

Glad you like the vet Fred! I drive my pups to the vet with the top down and they look over the windshield to catch the breeze!

Most of my dogs didn’t like the vet’s office. They were happy to get into the car for a drive but once they figured out where they were going…
