Maps wouldn’t be very accurate if mapmakers were bad at math

I wish that we readers could see that map. Betcha it’s hilarious!!

Imagine GPS without reference to math. Drive on a ways, turn left, drive a bit more, then right at the grocery store, a little further and you have reached your destination.

My niece once gave her sister these directions, and I quote (cause I memorized). “Go down the long road for awhile. When you come to the biggest house in the world, turn left and drive awhile longer”. Her sister successfully reached the location without a problem.

Ah, yes, the word “Extra”, ever the Optimist, eh, Aggie? ☺

And every state can claim “We’re Number 1.” Makes things easier.

And why you chose thirty-six, we’ll never know.

Geography, geometry……..

When I was a pup (also in Ohio, not all that far from where Aggie & Trout are), I knew Ohio’s numbers: 17th state admitted, 5th most populous, 5th most industrialized, 48th in per-capita expenditure on education (and that included everything spent on the Ohio State U. football program).

But I suspect that our girls are smart enough largely overcome that. And maybe things there have gotten better in the last half century – but I severely doubt it.

I numbered them all as number 1, because that’s what they all claimed when I looked them up. We’re number 1.
