With my maternal grandparents (bless their souls since 2007 and ‘08) being the only grandparents I knew growing up, I hardly remember a time they visited Washington from Arizona —where the majority of the extended lives— and stayed at my parents’ place.
Elizabeth says, “We got the room!” OK, Elizabeth. You share your room with April. Where are the grandparents going to sleep? The last time a visitor came was Aunt Fiona Brass and she took over Michael’s room, which is only a few steps away from being a garbage dump, forcing Mike to sleep on the couch in the rec room.
It may be quieter at Phil and Georgia’s place, but if their house has more than one bedroom in it, then they have the room and the quiet.
I would think grandparents would prefer the noise of grandkids. But then again, it is nice to sleep through the night. And how do they have room? Liz shares her room with April, doesn’t she? Would they keep a whole room empty just for infrequent guests?

Be nice to your family. All I have is me, myself, and I. We don’t argue much.

My in-laws usually stay at my brother-in-law’s place for pretty much the same reason. ;-)

Isn’t Phil a musician? Guess he won’t be practicing during their visit.

And they don’t have to deal with two brats (Lizzie is the exception).

For some reason, in my life, Peace and Quiet are mutually exclusive.

That’s the greatest thing about being an uncle. You can enjoy the kids during the day, and when the day is over… You go home.

Being a Capricorn, we are loners and are much happier on our own. It’s my own digs elsewhere, or I don’t go.

When is Phil going to have some kids of his own? No doubt he is being nagged by the following people:
Georgia: “I want a little one to hold, Phil!”
Elly: “No kids? Being a selfish pri*k as you always are, Phil!”
Marian & Jim: “When are you give us some grandchildren and save the bloodline?”
Michael & Elizabeth: “We want cousins!”

But for rock band noise, grandma and grandpa would be delighted to hear the shrills of April!

Three kids and they’ve got the room? How big of a house do they have?

Preach it, Phil.
