Some one once punned My boss said I should put my shoulders to the wheel, my nose to the grindstone, my back into the effort, and never rest on my oars until the mountain is climbed I asked him how the heck do you get anything done in that position? We parted ways soon after.

Show me someone who puts their nose to the grindstone and I’ll show you a bloody fool.

    Ancient poem,

Your nose is close to the grindstone rough

And you hold it down there long enough

In time you will say there is no such thing

As brooks that babble and birds that sing.

These three things all the world will compose,

Just you and the grindstone and your darned old nose

Ain’t that the truth. . . Happy Monday all

I saw grindstone explode once. My nose is never going near one.

In the 70s, the week after I lost my job when I was in college, National Lampoon came out with their “Work” edition, complete with a guy holding his nose to a grindstone! It was pretty nasty…

I guess you didn’t do well, either, in the English class where they discussed “metaphor”?

This did not whet my appetite for a good pun.
