Mortal wounds aside, bullying is an under-addressed plague that leaves lifelong scars.

My parents were like this. I was told “don’t fight” and then I got in trouble for not defending myself. It was baffling.

For at least a couple seconds, I was thinking, “nice costume”.

American Public Schools™ as well, ladies and gentlemen. Oh, and if the bully is a sport star, that’s a sure-fire guarantee that the faculty will turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to his/her victims.

Despite being weak and unpopular, I had little experience with physical bullies, and none of them were all that harsh compared with the anecdotes I read. Either my schools were more disciplined than I gave them credit for, or kids found me so off-putting that I wasn’t even fun to push around.

When I was in junior high, I was skinny. (The school bullies would pick on me). As I got older and gained weight, not so much bullying.
