It depends on the species, but the most common bumblebees don’t pose a stinging threat. The females gather the nectar and ignore humans, while the stingless males protect the nest, buzzing threateningly at people who approach too close.
Bumblebees are generally pretty laid back and easy. Though they CAN (and occasionally will) sting you. And I suppose being stuck in a concert hall with people waving sticks around would be pretty annoying to a bumble.
According to an Air Force study in the 1950s, the wing area, speed of wing flapping, weight and that lack of aerodynamics, the bumblebee should not be able to fly. The bumblebee does not know this and flies anyway.
A very similar thing actually happened to me once. I was playing bassoon in my college symphonic band, at an outdoor concert, when a bee apparently decided that I smelled interesting. And I’m melissophobic, so I instinctively tried to get it away from me, which is very noticeable when you’re holding a bassoon.

To bee or not to bee in this performance. That is the question.
