If the robot doesn’t have front wheels that steer, there is something I learned years ago when I had a job driving a bulldozer. Put separately controlled brakes on either side of the car. When you activate the brakes on one side and not the other side, the vehicle turns in that direction. The harder you activate the brake the sharper it turns. If you need to stop just activate both set of brakes equally.
