    Not true, Carmen.

The Republican Party of Trump fervently hopes to rid America of democracy.

    They believe it’ll be Great.

Is this the beginning of an Epic Journey, similar to those described in the old mythological sagas — to rescue Hope? (Spoiler: Hope still exists within each person’s heart.)

Hope isn’t dead, it’s just waiting for logic and reason to be foremost in this society!

How long that waiting period is, is dependent on too many variables, alas!

Vaxxed, and Democrats, are generally hopeful. Fox victims are not. They believe in the dark hellscape of Trump’s inaugural. Clinging to an idyllic past that never existed, and would depend on denying rights to others, is self-defeating.

I’m sorry Carmen, but your conservatives and libertarians have been slowing killing all Hope for at least the last four decades. Your desire to rule by fiat alone simply for power’s sake is the main cause.

It may be forlorn, but I still have some. Keep hope alive.

(imagines a different version of some of the dialogue in this cartoon)

FOR US TO BE MISSING HOPE, WE HAVE TO LOSE IT FIRST, DON’T WE?

in some ways, we want hope to die or at lest fade into the background. Hoping can be a barrier to doing – we hope it happens instead of taking actions to make it happen.

It’s nice to have but it shouldn’t be the focus – my old sergeant always called hope ‘another four-letter word’.

“You can rock it, you can roll it,

You can Slop it, you can Stroll it

    At the Hope…

Let’s go to the Hope! Let’s go to the Hope! (oh, baby)…"

What a cruel world, to not allow Hope to co-exist with Carmen’s need to own the libs.

The weak lose hope; strong characters work to build hope.

I’m thankful hope is dead and buried. Without hope to cling to, people must face up to reality and do what must needs be done. When they relied on hope they sat around waiting for things to improve. Now without hope people must build their own future, good or bad, but at least a future resulting from their own choices.

From some of the recent comments concerning hope and inflation I can smell the stench of self righteousness and privilege and a complete lack of genuine concern about anything other than a need to make oneself appear to be a better person than they really are. Those of you who try to gloss over inflation and criticize anyone that expresses concerns about it must be wealthy enough to be impervious to higher prices for food and other necessities. My daughter is afraid because the apartment she lives in is raising her rent by 300 per month. She had gone vegan but said it was too expensive for her so now she’s eating chicken, rice and frozen vegetables for most meals. I try to help out but there is only so much that I can do.Unfortunately that 80k SALT deduction does me no good like it does the supporters that our politicians cater to.Fortunately from my interactions with my coworkers and others that most people do not share some of yours blind devotion to a political dogma and have distrust for our elected officials and for that I hold out hope for the future of this country.
