Even with that mishearing, he probably still gets the key message when it switches to English with “I want to wish you a Merry Christmas … from the bottom of my heart.”
5? I wondered how old Nelson was supposed to be. I thought he was closer to 7 or 8. He’s been shown doing homework and having little friends, a 5yr old is barely in kindergarten. I never had homework in kindergarten, in fact I don’t think it started until maybe 3rd grade or so but that was over 30yrs ago so perhaps it’s different now
Growing up in Southern California, Feliz Navidad was as much part of the season as the decorated palm trees. My wife (from Idaho) just doesn’t understand this.

I always thought it was:
“Do not go, gentile, into that good night.” Dylan Thomas – 1914-1953
(’Always wondered where I was supposed to go – and how).

Funnily enough that song was playing on the radio when I read this. I can see his point of view, or hearing :)

“Fleas on my dog …”
Much to the chagrin of my actual dog to whom I sing this repeatedly and with delight every year.

Felix Navidad? That’s Santa Claus’s cousin from Mexico.

Thanks for ruining José Feliciano’s Feliz Navidad for me. This was even worse than the Fab Four singing it to the Beatles “And I Love Her” tune.
