In what vernacular does “take a knee” mean “to worship”? “Bow our knees,” “Let us kneel,” I’ve heard. Never “take a knee,” in that context.

Growing up in a catholic grade school meant kneeling a lot. Church was another place were we knelt a lot. As a cement fisher in my youth meant my knees were shot in my 30’s.

These days, to me it means: if Medicare offers to pay for an artificial knee, for God’s sake, take a knee.
