Cut backon cable television? Its easy. Lose cable for a week and will find you have so much more time to do other things.

Cut the cord 7 years ago, just have OTA (over the air ie antenna) channels, more time to do thIngs I like and not putting up with the drivel on tv. Side benefit, bank account grew by quite a bit since then.

I haven’t had cable in over 15 years. No outside antenna either. There is nothing on TV worth watching and I have better things to do.

Worst is? There are now NO RULES on how many commercials in a set programming period. If you check, on the JEOPARDY program there are actually more commercials than programming. The network claims they need the extra revenues for programming costs. What they do NOT say is that with every extra one minute of commercials, there is LESS programming, so the programming cost gets less with more commercials.

I dumped out dish years ago and don’t regret it. There too much free stuff, from different sources to watch, without paying for it.

True story: a satellite dish salesman came out to our house and declared that according to his GPS readings, the best place for a dish was about 25 feet from the back of the house, bang on the property line between our house and the one next door. And even then, neighboring trees would grow enough in a few years to mess with the satellite signal. So he said we were better off staying with cable. True story.

At 83, me the caregiver. 89 he my patient. going out isn’t always an option, no jobs for stimulus, we’ve been married 60 yrs nothing left to discuss. TV & internet is our companion. Can’t help it, that’s the way it is.

You can save money by going to a streaming service and get pretty the same programming you got with cable. The only thing I’m missing is the regional sports networks and I have a an IPTV service that covers that and more.

I haven’t cut the “Cable” cord entirely but only pay for streaming channels now. I only watch a few hours of TV in the evening each day, so having all the live channels made no sense.

We have a longstanding dislike of cable companies. For nearly 4 years we have used an internet based TV system. It has been a little cheaper but service has not been a whole lot better on the TV side. Our condo building has approved a 5 year contract with Bell Fibe. We don’t HAVE to use it but the cost will be shared by all residents for the basic package. If you want additional channels it’s between you and Bell. It will be cheaper than what we have now. Quality of service remains to be tested.

One needs to spend more time checking their cable account than their bank account! I’m confident my bank won’t stiff me, but the cable companies are great at “bait and switch” and I end up paying for stations I never asked for in place of those I signed up for. (And the monthly bill creeps up every time they add more worthless channels,,,)

DirectTV kept creeping the rates up until we were spending about $150 a month. So we cancelled that and just stream what we want. We haven’t lost much (for my wife. I don’t care).
