Good deal , the precious Roscoe is in todays cartoon for change . The second panel is my favorite with him scratching behind his right ear . He makes this cartoon something better every time he is in it . Thanks to Brian for that .
I threw a small ball for my cat one day. I was amazed when she brought it back. I threw it again but she only brought it halfway back. I walked across the room, picked it up and threw it again. She brought it a quarter of the way back. So, I took a few steps, picked it up and threw it again. Yep, took me that long to figure out she was teaching me to fetch. That was one smart cat.
Chief, our Dalmatian, never quite got the concept… or “catch”, if you threw him a ball, he’d let it bounce off his forehead, then pick it up…maybe. He did have a 20% percent chance, if you threw him popcorn.
My daughter had an Border Collie that would bring you a stick to throw, then chew it in half and bring back one piece. Repeat until all you got was sawdust. But you still had to throw it.
We have English Cream Golden Retriever which demands to play ball several times each day, and if weather is nice also wants to go for a walk with our other two dogs, they demand us humans to go too.
We were throwing a ball at the side of our house for our Shepard/mix dog, who ran and brought it back a few times.. the last time we threw it, she went for it and took it someplace in front of the house and came back to us with NOTHING… after a short look for it, we quit and the ball never showed up!

Earl has furry ears, so I understand the confusion.

my dog goes and gets it but she won’t bring it back.

The dog should have ran for it and then on the way back throw it at them and see which one of those 2 went to get it

Roscoe is more your grab a seat on the couch when no one’s looking type than your your outdoorsman type.

Tell Roscoe he’s past his prime. (Or maybe he just need his glands drained … like a pimple on the mirror when I was a teen.)

My dog is a champion hunter but won’t fetch for me. Maybe she just gave it up or only fetches rabbits. I don’t know. She’s not talking.

Running is overrated.
(Imagine a retriever owned by litterbugs. That’d be fun.)
