Winter Solstice. My hometown lights a huge bonfire along our Wolf Run walking/biking trail to celebrate winter solstice. I’ll miss is because I’ll be at work. Wolf Run Trail gets its name from the Wolf family who own much of the land the trail is on. There are none of the 4-footed type wolves around there – just the 2-footed Wolfs who farm around here.
Ribbon Candy Day. It’s hard to find ribbon candy these days. When I was a kid, and Santa came to town to visit kids at he community building, he’d pass out bags of candy and there was always some ribbon candy in the bags. In those days, it was safe to pass out unwrapped candies. The bags also contained peanuts in the shell and other candies.
Anne & Samantha Day. Celebrated bi-annually on the summer solstice and the winter solstice, Anne and Samantha Day honors Anne Frank and Samantha Smith. (I thought I remembered this holiday from earlier this year).
Well, this trip has been a huge disappointment. Half of the things we wanted to see or places we wanted to go, were closed. We were supposed to be here 3 more days but we’re heading home tomorrow. We were in Taos today and half the shops were closed and the cantina we wanted to eat at was closed. My sister called them yesterday and was told they’d be open. So, we’re leaving tomorrow and heading back. We were talking to a lady from NJ while in Taos and she said the same thing,It’s been a disappointing trip for them, too, and they’re heading back 3 days early.
Is that you, Frosty? (No, he doesn’t have a hat.) Even so, a talking so man is definitely a step in the right direction, as far as miracles go. (And I hope this miracle goes far.) On another note, saw five golden crowned kinglets, nine varied thrushes, and a sparrow while out walking today.
