My son-in-law is a chemist. One of his pet peeves is when people call foil “tin foil”. It hasn’t been made of tin since WWII. The interesting thing is that my daughter uses the term tin foil, which she picked up from my mother. Even though my mother was born after foil became aluminum. Shows how persistent a term can become.
I really wish some genius psychologist would explain to me why so many humans prefer to believe things with no factual basis than things that can be demonstrated to be real.
