We occasionally make granola. It’s true that we’re more skilled in the kitchen than this dude, though. And I’ve tried the whole “make your own yogurt” thing… and decided that my time’s worth more than that.
(Try making oatmeal cookies using granola for the oats. Yummm!)
Granola is pretty easy. Oats, honey, oil, and whatever nuts and spices you want. Bake. Add dried fruit. 45 minutes start to finish including baking and washing up.
My usual breakfast is a bit like granola. Flakes, oats, tablespoon each of raisins, cranberries, pecans, almonds, strawberries, blueberries, mango, banana. So I get the benefits without the cooking. It has helped with the blood sugar, the need for fiber, maintaining proper weight, and avoiding a few of the usual complaints that usually arrive during the age of adjustments, which is my term for old age.
But in foods as in most things, to each his/her own. So long as one likes what one eats, and it doesn’t work against good health, go for it. You only get one chance at this life.
Apropos of nothing much at all, I did a search in One Look Dictionary for words ending in “-ola”. It topped out in the "J"s when it hit the display limit of 2000. So then I tried narrowing it down by using the “commonness” filter and whittled it down to only 787.
We make our own bread, pasta, cakes, soups, chocolates, etc, etc, and find them worth the time and effort, without bread makers, etc. The blender is a really great tool, though! You can dump grain into it and get whole-grain flour out in seconds!

Did the granola explode? Perhaps he should double-check the ingredients in the recipe.

Sometimes you actually can save a lot by not making some things yourself.

As if Frazz doesn’t make his own granola

Phyllo, that’s hard.

Never made my own granola. I bake my own bread, which is easy if you have a machine to do the kneading, which I do.
I’ve tried making my own pasta and my own cheese. Those aren’t worth the trouble.

Spent 5,000$ to make a “free” bag of Granola? Then complains about Frazz’s 993.60$ bag of commercial granola?

You can spend time, or you can spend money. Which is more valuable to you?

Bought a new oven when while cleaning, my scraper went clean thru the firebox.

Homemade granola is easy, delicious, and yes, cheap. And no, not a strain on the oven.

I have made my own granola. It’s tastier than the store-bought, but I don’t think it’s really any cheaper.
