The cats to the rescue…..even though Elvis is “ EXHAUSTED “ he continues to soldier on, and Goldie makes the Boy feel like the biggest spoon in the house. Pucky is adorable and so caring, as usual. All paws are definitely on deck!
My Sparky was certainly thrilled when I was sick a few months back. Her Person was staying home for SO many days, just sitting on the sofa or snuggled up in bed! Prime Sitting On territory! Only slight grump was me being so tired made me falling asleep mid-pet more likely. Sparky didn’t really approve of that.
That’s how Miss Kitty, a tiny tuxedo kitten with white racing stripes up her hind legs, ended up as one of my forever cats. Only a day after she appeared on the front porch and demanded to be let in out of the cold, I came down with the flu. She tucked herself next to me in bed and kept me company through the most miserable Christmas of my life. How could I even think of placing her in an animal shelter after that? She was with me through almost 19 years. She was the best little kitty girl there ever was or ever will be, and I shall miss her forever and always and a day.
I do believe the thermometer reads a comforting 98.6. (And a touchless thermometer! So much nicer than the “put this in your mouth and I’ll be back in five minutes” ones.)
Marshmallow and Smudge are playing together and getting into all sorts of mischief: knocked a living room lamp over, wool wrapped around he apartment, power cord for clock radio chewed through, and running around and pouncing on each other.
On the couch with cartoons? I’m SOOOOO jealous! When I was a kid, my mom’s rule was “If you’re sick enough to stay home, you’re sick enough to stay in bed.” 8-P
Two weeks ago today I was blindsided by two large dogs while at the dog park with my husband, son, and our two dogs. Result of the impact was a broken leg and ankle (foot was not pointing the right direction). In a nutshell, two ER visits, two ortho visits, one surgery later I’m repaired with a fair amount of metal. Currently in a splint with crutches and will hopefully be in a walking boot in 10 days. Two of the cats have been my constant companions since the accident – pretty much always have at least one, if not both on me. They really are the best snugglers and trying help mom get better.
ANYBODY in the house feels bad, they sit on the couch— he comes and sits about a finger away, purring loudly, and ignores if someone needs to lay on a warm fluffy. Same cat that usually hides from everyone. :D
Oh sure, NOW they get plenty of cartoons and a couch. I wish we got that (my sisters and I, that is, since I don’t know what happened in other households). We had to stay in bed, except for meals. No TV, and you were too sick to even play with your toys.
OT I was sorry to learn that Howard Hesseman, who was DJ Dr. Johnny Fever on WKRP in Cincinnati , passed away at age 81. I guess he didn’t win his own contest.

There is nothing more comforting when you are not feeling well than a snuggling cat, perhaps a snuggling cat who is full purr mode.

Even though he is worn out, Elvis – entirely alone and with no assistance from anyone – bravely continues doing his duty.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Elvis-Anum: I know several of us have colds, but I must keep on with my transcribing of scrolls.
Beatrixia: That’s very brave of you, Elvis, but why don’t you take a day or two off? I think I’m coming down with your cold.
Puckmosis: And I’m just getting over it.
Meanwhile, in the palace kitchen
Thomios: Sue Chef, please bring me my biggest kettle and the biggest spoon.
Sue: Here they are, chef. What do you need them for?
Thomios: You’ll see.
Later, at Dinner
Thomios: Fellow cats, I have used my biggest spoon to create the best cure for colds: Hot Soup!
