Doesn’t Dad realize how he’s damaging Calvin’s self-esteem by making him do homework?

Learning builds character. (I know. Too easy)

Clearly he’s right, considering Calvin’s been 6 for 10 years now.

Physically or mentally?

Survival is an instinct.

“Sounds like you already learned something.”

And Dad was right. Calvin never got any older.

Some kids will just never learn! :D

Just wait until there’s a pandemic in your time Calvin. Then you’re gonna MISS school.

I agree. I have never learned to like learning if I have to think to do it. Especially if I have to memorize anything.

Try putting it under your pillow and learn through osmosis.

Calvin, do your HW and when your an adult you can write a comic strip based on moments like this.

My Dad said he refused to go to high school. It meant staying in a town about 40 miles away from the farm. His father said that was OK, we do need a cold storage area under the house, so Dad spent the winter digging. He went to high school the next year.

How disheartening to have a stuffed tiger be smarter than you.

In the mid-90’s, I ran a gift store for a guy from Sweden. We had Calvin and Hobbes t-shirts on sale. He drew up a sign, but it read “Calvin and Hobbies T-Shirts”, and to be honest I still think about that a lot.

Calvin and superego. I mean Hobbes.

Calvin, homework is important – it prepares you for the day you’ll be qualified for an 8-hour-a-day job with NO MORE HOMEWORK. One of the greatest perks of adulthood – but it does have to be earned first!

Look, Calvin will have his entire lifetime to learn things!

Calvin should consider himself lucky. My mom threatened of a fate worse than death.

Back in the day, helping my young son with his homework after dinner each night, he was in awe of me that I knew all of the times tables. My wife and I did not have much money, but we gave our son our time & talent. We did not have much treasure to share.
