I still have to question the motives of Calvin’s parents giving him a toboggan and then allowing him to take it out to Doom Drop. The tiger is the wise one…
Reminds me of that Mitch Hedberg joke, of him being in a rock band event, and the lead singer asking the audience, “how many of you feel like human beings”, and then again asking “how many of you feel like animals”. Mitch responded to the first question because he didn’t know there would be a second part.
This was originally printed in newspapers the day Disney reissued “The Great Mouse Detective” to theaters in 1992. And here’s what was printed the day the film was first released in 1986… https://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1986/07/02
The flood of somatic sensations might include bruising, open bleeding, concussion and displaced or broken bones. But if dry clothes, hot chocolate with marshmallows by a roaring fire is what follows…
I read this just as the Berlin (oops — Beijing) Olympics are in progress, with well-trained, skilled, amazingly fit, and perhaps gloriously-mad young people schussing by the dozen down what certainly look to me like Doom Drops. Health to them all.

“Risk demise” vs “security of home and hearth.” Kind of a no-brainer, at least to the feline brain.

The nice thing about growing up, where the earth is full of ups and downs is risking life and limb for a cheap thrill.
YAHHHHH!!!!! let’s do that again.

I’m not good with rhetorical questions, or statements. “Go big or Go home!” …okay. See ya! Wouldn’t wanna be ya!
