It’s really difficult for people to go from slave to free. Many adjustments need to be made. When you’re a slave your boundaries are taken away or you’re just not allowed to have any. It took me a lifetime to realise and start to develop boundaries once I got away from the abusive people who pushed back with gaslighting every time I tried to grow.
My lifelong philosophy is that any experience is worthwhile if you get a story out of it. And better yet if you can make the story funny. It’s seen me through pretty much every tough time

And, yes, it makes for a wonderful story – implausible though it may be – remember, these "slaves evidently carried enough “gold” with them to construct a “golden calf” once instructed to do so by God.
