One night I heard munching in the kitchen, but all 3 cats were in the living room with me. A raccoon had used the cat door to get in the house. He(?) was so fat that he had to struggle to get back out the catdoor when I confronted him. Thru the whole episode, the cats never reacted.
Coons can be mean and aggressive. I had to take care of another one two days ago in the shed. They can really tear things up. Problem with relocating wild animals, (besides being illegal in many instances), is they are in a place where they are unfamiliar with the terrain and now are competing with the wildlife already there.
I’ve run into many raccoons over the years, and never met one that wasn’t polite. And some of them were in this exact situation – a raccoon raising her kits in my attic. They all seem to be about half tame. I’ve never seen one that reacted savagely to simply being seen, as depicted here.

It’s wonderful that Carly loves animals, but she needs to understand that wild animals need to go back to their homes..
