My Snagglepuss was a big boy—part Maine Coon—and he could climb to the top of the highest shelves in the basement and garage. He could not only climb up a tree, he could climb back down again.
One of our cat towers had a carpet tube. It was one of Blossom’s favorite sleeping spots. And we kept a kitty bed underneath it, so it was the best of both worlds!
Tommy reminds me of the kid who could not do a pull up on the old “Presidential Fitness Test” that many of us had to endure back in the ’60s through ’80s. Kids would skip school for a day if they knew they had to deal with pull ups, 600 yard runs, sit ups, push ups, throwing a softball so your arm would go out of socket etc…. IMHO the test rewarded the jocks who always got the top 10 percentile awards and shamed those who needed the most help getting fit and further distanced them from even liking PE class……
Lose the bow tie…the BOW TIE …. it’s holding you back!
You have it set at 14 in-lbs. of torque and climbing exceeds that torque limit. The blood flow is restricted to your happy little face with such a restrictive setting if you want to exert yourself.
As the cat god of happiness – happy face takes precedence over physical endeavor.
Try loosening it a bit and I bet the first step becomes a piece of cake. Drop it, and with your muscular physique you can probably shoulder press up to the top in no time! (That is if you were not pensive about heights)
Oh, and for those in the know, Tommie wears the Bow Tie not only to be fashion Forward like his favorite Medical Examiner, “Ducky” on NCIS: but the tie acts as a limiter on his god powers of happiness.
Sans Bow Tie, unthrottled, and all the mortals would be sprawled on the floor in shear ecstasy.
Unable to do any productive work (like feeding Tommy)
Is there anywhere I can get a list/description of all the cats who appear? I joined recently just as the real Lupin had his medical emergency. I really have gotten to look forward to reading this strip daily. Thank you, Georgia Dunn. It’s nice too that BCN updates appear several times daily on FB and that a number of wonderful, familiar commenters are known to me from TEN CATS. In fact, several of them recommended I give BCN a try as TC began to wind down recently with new episodes and is currently in its 1st week of repeats from the 1st installment 10 years ago.
Goose has no problem with heights. Yesterday I heard a noise in the kitchen. there’s Goose on top of the cabinets pawing at the ceiling. My FB page has a pic
The results are still being counted (checks and such), but so far my local animal shelter has raised more than $2,500 thanks to the Betty White Challenge! ♥ Imagining this happening across the nation, in shelters large and small, makes my heart smile.
My cat, Woodgie, bless her heart, is getting to that point. She launched herself toward the bed last night and lost her grip. I heard her scrambling to get up, to no avail. I got up to help her, but no, she didn’t want any help, thank you. I piled some pillows at the edge of the bed so she could climb up on them. It might have helped. She made it up later.

(This is why Tommy does not compete in the climbing contests.)

Once again, Tommy the Egyptian Cat God of Happiness sheds joy to all around him in waves. This causes his fur to go from bright brown to grayish.
May ten Tommie of happiness find each of you this day. With Tommy Toebeans, of Course!

Do not attempt to climb beyond the first platform, Tommy. Doom awaits those who rise too high.

Oh Tommy, we’ve all been there. Maybe Sophie can give an on-the-spot report of the higher ranges instead.

Tommy is just studying the quality of the various parts of the tower.

There ain’t no tower high enough
Ain’t no hammock low enough,
Ain’t no kitty wide enough
To keep him from getting the news, baby!

A Blast from the 70s: Jigsaw’s Sky High
Climb the tower from the floor
Stuck getting to the platform
…….
I love this tower
I tried to climb and make it to the top
I tried my best to get up there
But now I have to stop
…….
The tower feels sky high
No matter how I try
If I had wings to fly
I’d make it there sky high!
Yes, the tower feels sky high
And with a gentle sigh,
Some day I’m gonna try
To reach the top sky high!
…….
Some time I’ll try again,
But now, a nap is calling, it wins!
…….
The tower feels sky high
No matter how I try
If I had wings to fly
I’d make it there sky high!
Yes, the tower feels sky high
And with a gentle sigh,
Some day I’m gonna try
To reach the top sky high!

That’s the good thing about Tommy. He never lets his reports drag on.

So, Tommy, you take the lower levels you can reach without spraining something, and let Sophie have the high spots.
OT:
Every cat showing on the shelter’s web site has already been spoken for; I need to wait for some new arrivals and apply FAST.

Eh, we’ll just have the camera do a panning shot of the tower instead—that should get the jist of it anyway.
