Mrs insists on using my tools for whatever-however. Really irritates me. I tell her there is a proper tool for the job. I hand her a pair of my vice grips and tell her, it’s like using these to place the eyelashes on your customers. You have several different tweezers for how you place them. you use the ones best for the angle you’re working. Why use my screw driver as a pry bar!!!??? (or my good kitchen knives as scissors?)

There IS a reason some folks refer to a hammer as an Irish screwdriver….

People have their own goals and if facts get in the way, they ignore those facts and focus on the facts that make them think they are right. People, in general, do not care about being right but about being comfortable.

We have an understanding in our house. Barb doesn’t use my Snap On screwdrivers to open paint cans, and I don’t use her sewing scissors to cut paper. We’re a perfect couple.

As someone once pointed out, most people use facts and statistics the way a drunk man uses a lamppost: for support, rather than illumination.

The proper tool isn’t always available so you use what is available. In the Army we called them “field expedients.”

Some tools exist only to be misused.

    Take, for example, the filibuster.
