I am SO TOTALLY with Heart on this one. There isn’t a single prepackaged snack that doesn’t have an unnecessarily deafeningly loud wrapper around it. I firmly believe that the Mothers Union has a secret deal with snack manufacturers to ensure that the wrappers are so loud that kids can’t sneak a snack without proper parental permission.
I’m sure the next person who borrows that book Heart is reading will love the presence of chip crumbs all over the pages. And since crumbs can easily get stuck within the gutter of a book (apparently that’s what it’s called) and hard to get out, they’ll be there for a long time.
That’s what is called “mindless eating”: eating while commuting, or reading, or watching TV, or while watching a film in the cinema. A person could eat a ten course dinner while doing those activities and at the end still feel hungry. Is it any wonder that the US has a problem with obesity?
To think that libraries allow eating nowadays, while reading newspapers, or using the computers, or reading books, is absolutely disgusting in my mind. I just hate it, that people can’t go anywhere, or do any activity, except maybe swimming, and see people constantly stuffing their faces with food or drink.
A music teacher from years past said they were at a symphony and someone tried to stealth open a candy bar in the front row, making crinkling noises for 5 minutes before the whole show stopped and the conductor made them leave

The difficulties of opening a snack package without making a noise. How well I know it!
