After you have been married a couple of years, you learn what it spicy for each other.

Sounds yummy, but I’d need to take out a loan to buy a jar from Amazon.

Readily available around our area during farmers’ market season. Lots of folks grow both fruit and peppers. I like several types as a glaze for ham or roasts but not on breakfast toast. One time I grabbed a jar of preserves from the cupboard without paying strict attention to the label and came near to losing breakfast at the first bite….it was not the fire so much as the total unexpectness of the taste so early in the morning.

With enough butter it doesn’t matter, so expand your palate.

Sugar is supposed to reduce the capsaicin’s heat effect.

First wife had to have everything bland. Very bland. Present wife has a subscription at Penzey’s and I swear we are keeping them in business. And our taste buds are loving it.

I’ve been married close to 25 years, and this still applies.

The EX and I had similar taste for spicy. Medium to beginning of high. Now I can take SOME heat, but not nearly as much as I use to. He still likes medium to high. And no…that’s NOT why he’s my EX.

So did you try it? How spicy was it (for you)? I take it Dan has a high spice tolerance? He should come here and go to the place that invented the Buffalo wings and try the Extreme Heat ones (formerly known as suicide hot).

Amanda, use a toothpick to get a very small sample then you will know.

Funny this should come up. My niece brought some for Xmas dinner and put it on a cube of cream cheese and put on chips and crackers. It was great, not spicy at all. Like you I don’t do heat. It seems to distract from the flavors I want from the food.
