Can’t call out a group, but plenty of individuals in the NBA claim social justice, except when it has to do with the Uighurs in China- LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Popovich, Steve Kerr, among others.
Not seeing many votes here the comments, but I still don’t have a better candidate that the fake golfer in cheat. Maybe there’s another part of the comments for SJotY voting?
Aaron Rodgers for his “but I thought I was supposed to get the Flu shot” excuse. Consider showing us the record where and when you got that shot, A-a-ron?
Ask yourself this: who watches them? Who buys the tickets? Who sits through the TV ads? Who amplifies the social media? Who notices the endorsements? Who follows the fanzines – oh, I meant sports magazines? In other words, who enables all of this sports-jerkerie?
Tom Brady:Insisting on getting Antonio Brown to his teamThrew a temper tantrum while getting shut out by the SaintsIs so jaded by winning Super Bowls he treats the trophy like a bean bag
Another vote for Lia Thomas. Not fair, not right! Never has been, never will be.I am okay with Trans, but competing in any physical sports is not a level playing field.
My Sports Jerk for 2021 nomination is MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred for his unjust movement of the All Star game from Atlanta. I know it must of killed his soul to have to present the World Series trophy to the Braves.
Daniel Snyder, owner of the WFT. Should be SJ of the Decade for the treatment of the team’s cheerleaders and his long time refusal to change the team’s name.
SJoTY:1. Aaron Rodgers, 2. Novax Djokovic, 3. Kyrie IrvingdisHonorable Mention: NBA & IOC for kowtowing to the genocidal, authoritarian Chinese Communist Party.Reserving my judgment on AB – strong likelihood of CTE
We can’t nominate groups, of course, but the insanely (I mean that pretty nearly literally) greedy baseball owners for causing the current lockout do spring to mind. Other than that, Aaron Rodgers—although he did do the Chiefs a favor!
My first nominee: Moshe Hogeg. As owner of Beitar Jerusalem, he could do it all: run cryptocurrency scams, rape minors, refuse to pay millions of dollars in bills, and maintain racist hiring practices.
Note: Beitar Jerusalem is the only pro soccer team in Israel that never hired an Israeli Arab as a player, despite the fact Arabs make up 20% of the country’s population.
For lack of a better choice, I’ll say Rick Bowness. The Dallas Stars played poorly in 2021, and honestly, to say he was mad as hell was an understatement.
“Lia” Thomas although I would use his real name if the media would use it more often so that I would know it just as well. Honorable mention – spineless U Penn womens swim coach, U Penn athletic director, and – individually of course – the people who oversee UP.
