I just remembered an earlier Sunday strip with Max’s moms in them, and I questioned how children of same-sex parents refer to them individually.

I wonder if Dana got the idea for this storyline from my comment.

I recently theorized most animals identify each other by names that can’t really be translated to human speech, because they’re not words, they’re smells.

It would be so funny if after all the unicorns turned around then someone would shout, “MADE YA LOOK!”

Good thing she didn’t mention what the ancient Romans used to use as toothpaste. They got the ammonia for the cleaning from public sources. Google this at your own risk.

When Israel evacuated Ethiopean Jews out of Ethiopia (“Operation Moses”) in 1984, they readied health services for them, including dentists. The dentists were amazed to find that (in spite of massive other health problems) the refugees’ teeth were in surprisingly good shape … because they cleaned their teeth with twigs!

Maybe unicorns did. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to find a stick to clean my teeth with. Hope a dog didn’t take a dump on it… this time.

I would’ve suggested that Max say “Yo, Ma!”, but then that would’ve led to even more confusion if Yo-Yo Ma had ever stopped by.

Totally off subject, but do you ever have a font that your brain just absolutely refuses to read correctly? For some strange reason, the “Mom” in the first panel is reading “Morn” to me and I can’t get my brain to stop it.

Does Max have a “dad” somewhere in the picture?

They also used to brush their teeth with charcoal, but I guess that beside the point. :P
