Imagine your mother making a fresh turkey from Thanksgiving to the end of February…because they were the cheapest thing to buy. You won’t want to look at any turkey for years after that.
I question Brad’s lack of enthusiasm. What young guy is going to be discouraged by the simple fact that the food items in question are leftovers, and cold? I was there once, long ago, and I would have been just as happy to have my turkey etc. any way I could get it! On top of that, sometimes the leftovers, especially after reheating, taste even better!
I wonder just how much effort he put into the large meal, and then the cleaning up afterwards and the storage of the leftovers. I don’t think he really is in a position to complain about what is in the fridge. Personally, I would be delighted to have some leftovers in mine. I spent Thanksgiving doing dog therapy at the local hospital and was too tired to even make a sandwich when I got home. No regrets and will be returning on Sunday. Generally, only the two of us go on Sundays and as far as dog therapy, we are the only ones in the hospital. We get invited or are expected to show up in all corners of the hospital plus lots of requests that are unexpected. Our dogs just love it. Mine can’t walk past groups of people. She has to work a room, and she is a pro at doing that. She will back away from any upraised hand having learned after a gentle pull-back from me that some people just don’t want to see her. (Allergies, don’t like dogs, afraid, just not in the mood. No problem, I just try to keep her from annoying anyone who doesn’t want to see our dogs.)
