I would like to be in a lush jungle of warm socks right now, and I’m sure many of you also getting winter weather would too. Stay safe and warm everyone.
Lupin, you are so cute. R.I.P beautiful boy. I know your Momma (aka Georgia) will keep you going in the comics we so cherish, along with your cat siblings and human siblings, and along with your friends outside your home. ❤️
I had a 19 lb. tabby who loved nesting in warm laundry. When I was home with the furkids, Random Numbers would dive into the dryer and nest in the clothes.
OT. Freezing rain has been falling for two and a half hours now. My trees are coated in ice. The lights have flickered quite a few times, but so far, so good. They’re estimating we still have 8-9 hours of icing to go before this switches over to snow. There are 6000 power outages in the county to the west of me. I know I’m not the only one in the path of this storm. Sending prayers and positive thoughts that everybody has a safe, warm place to hunker down and ride it out.
We have been trapped in this arctic nightmare for what seems like days, but apparently is only 36 standard hours. Supplies are generally in good shape, with one or two exceptions. The morale of the crew is positive, and their faith in their commander remains strong. The second in command neglected her duty to acquire more milk and instead we have a plethora of reading material. Rationing may become necessary if our supplies fall into the danger range. Charges of dereliction of duty are a possibility.
Science Officer Hamilton has conducted his first-ever examination of the ice crystals falling from the sky. Although further study is warranted, he insisted on cutting the landing party short so he could return to base and groom.
Security Officer Mittens is maintaining good discipline in the lower decks crew.
I look out the view-port at this cold, forbidden landscape and wonder if it was wise to put an outpost here. The natives are, for the most part, friendly – if not a little backward. I of course have maintained the Prime Directive and have not revealed our true anthropological mission.
Oooh, since we had multiple from the paint arc, I hope we get to see the one where Lupin meets Sir Figaro and the famous “Jokies or realzies,” line. That’s two out of the last three showing Elvis’ impatience with Lupin, reminding me of how good their dynamic is and making me hope for his reaction to a certain destructive playtime.
It seems fitting that a strip from this story was used today. When the strip originally ran for some reason Georgia was a day late with posting one of the strips, not the one with this part in though, one that would have been on February 2 but ended up being on the 3rd. I remember thinking at the time that the delayed strip was a birthday present for me since my birthday is the 3rd. I actually think I posted something like that on the original site, but didn’t see it now. Though I did see a comment from Georgia about how she had been thinking for a while about adding an AV cat which she did later that year when she introduced us to Burt.
For piwismom! In case I don’t get back to post before Friday afternoon, just sending a ton of prayers and hugs for you as you go in for your surgery on Friday. We are all with you, holding your hand and holding you in our hearts. Lots of love~~`
The show must go on. Since BCN did a Hamilton story line, this isn’t totally OT. A touring company is performing Hamilton at the Schuster Center in Dayton. Despite ice/sleet/snow/drifting snow and a Level 2 Snow Emergency meaning “do not drive unless it’s an emergency,” they have decided not to cancel tonight’s performance. My inner cynic is thinking that by doing this, they are avoiding having to refund the price paid for tickets. I suppose if I had an inner optimist, she would be thinking, “How thoughtful that they don’t want to deny fans the opportunity to see their favorite musical.” I wonder which is more expensive: a ticket to see Hamilton or a traffic ticket for driving to a musical performance while under a level 2 snow emergency?
And it turns out that Update is also an artist. She went nuts for the painting paper that the art teacher gave me so I had to hide it in a drawer. So she did an homage to Sophie and unrolled half a roll of paper towels from the kitchen, down the hall, and into the guest bedroom and under the bed. She then shredded and bit the paper until there wasn’t enough left to bother rolling up. We called it “Paper Towel Roll: Deconstructed.”

The first panel could well be construed as Classic Elvis!

Evaporation is an endothermic process. The drying socks will feel cool to the touch. Nevertheless, Go Lupin!

Toto: Africa
Puck: I see the door beckoning at right
Elvis sees only a entrance to the laundry room
Lupin says it’s a beautiful sight,
But could it only result in certain doom?
Lupin: I look around for a tiny box
Hoping to find an impossibly tiny bed for a quick nap
And then I find a line of toasty warm socks,
So many things her all waiting just to do!
…….
Gonna take some time to explore in this room
There is no time for any doom and gloom!
I bless the subterranean room in the house!
I bless the subterranean room in the house!
Gonna take some time to explore this place I’ve never been!
…….
Elvis: The wild cat’s at once again
Falling down a laundry chute or some such thing,
I can’t understand my crazy friend
But I know he always has to have his crazy fling
I just sigh and write the news
And let Lupin do his thing!
…….
Gonna take some time to explore in this room
There is no time for any doom and gloom!
I bless the subterranean room in the house!

Gonna take some time to explore this place I’ve never been!

The Ballad of Lupin (From the “Ballad of Paladin,” Johnny Western)
Lupin, Lupin, where do you roam?
Lupin, Lupin, all around the home.
“Have Claws, Will Travel,” reads the card of a cat.
A knight with a hat who will make a stand!
His fast claws for hire, he’s a Thunder Cat.
A sure friend in need is the cat called, Lupin.
Lupin, Lupin, where do you roam?
Lupin, Lupin, all around the home.
He travels on to wherever he must
A fedora of brown is his badge of trust.
There are food bowl legends that the other cats sing,
Of the cat with the hat, of the cat called, Lupin.
Lupin, Lupin, where do you roam?
Lupin, Lupin, all around the home.
I’ve forgotten which original arc inspired this, but I thought it worth sharing, any way.
