I’ve always been a snow girl. Loved making snow angels and helping keep my elementary school “boyfriend” supplied with snowballs when he and the neighbor boy had snowball fights. Then there was walking atop the “snow mountains,” made by snow plows clearing our narrow street. Living in a capitol city (1948-1961) there were no opportunities to learn skiing, and (safe) sledding was restricted to being pulled/pulling someone along the sidewalk. But I did love ice skating! City park baseball diamonds were flooded and regularly smoothed so skaters could learn, glide gracefully, or practice new maneuvers to music on the public address system. Now we have 6" of fresh snow and gusty winds designing drifts. So, I’ll be content to watch it through the window!

And the feel of snow going down your snow pants when the sled plows into a snow bank..

Sometimes, all it takes is that first icy chill for it all to come flooding back to one’s mind.
