Soon we’ll have a follow-up report on the purported wetness of water.

(Kidding! I genuinely look forward to seeing how this week develops.)

Trash? This would indeed be news to my wicked-stepfather, the inveterate dumpster diver. He’ll be 80 in a couple of months, and he still continues to find treasures that others have cast off into dumpsters, skips, and on sides of the road.♥

Did Floor Man and Dr. Scuttles throw out a lot when they moved or is the timing a coincidence?

Agnes is bravely reporting from the dumpster, unfazed by those rough and tumble racoons. So glad they respect her PRESS badge.

Good timing! I’m currently reading the newest book in my favorite Witch Cozy Mystery series, Magic & Marriage (Starry Hollow Witches Book 15) by Annabel Chase was released earlier this week. Her familiar is a wisecracking, talking racoon named Raoul. This one is a parody of “the bachelor” type shows.

I got an e-mail that Behind the Scenes With Burt has been delayed again. At this rate, maybe it will finally arrive for my birthday in June. Oh well, it’s worth waiting for.

    Des’ree: You Gotta Be

Search each dumpster as you choose

    Go report the latest news

Do your thing and try to be the best

    Keep going until you prevail

And don’t be afraid to fail,

Always put yourself to the test.

    …….

    (Chorus) You gotta

You gotta be rad, You give it your all

    You gotta keep going

You gotta search long, You gotta search hard

    For all you’ll be knowing

You gotta speak up, and do those interviews

    And promote understanding

And I know, and I know that love will save the day!

    …….

    Communicate, do interviews,

Keep up on the latest news,

Explore new dumpsters for treasures new

Keep on talking, make new friends,

Find the trail that never ends,

You can do it, you know you can!

    …….

    (Chorus)

    …….

Keep on learning, keep on growing,

Some days are dark, some are glowing

    Cat, raccoon, mouse or human

    We all run the race

Don’t be afraid, go your own pace!

    …….

Search each dumpster as you choose

    Go report the latest news

Do your thing and try to be the best

    Keep going until you prevail

And don’t be afraid to fail,

Always put yourself to the test.

    …….

    (Chorus)

    …….

Got to be rad, got to be bold

Give it your all, sometimes you’ll fall

Keep searching hard, keep learning all,

And I know, yes I know that love will save the day!

Do Raccoons get a bad rap?

Trash Pandas, Bandits…dumpster divers (OK that one is true) but given the encroachment on their habitat…whose fault it that?

One of my elementary school teachers had a pet Raccoon. That little guy was very smart. I really liked him, Ray Raccoon .

Ray could unlock his cage, walk around the counters, greet all the kids, get a treat, then go back and lock himself into his cage before the Break Bell.

He certainly made class time interesting. Nobody seemed to mind him, and he seemed to be well liked by everybody.

Yes wild raccoons can eat junk, they can have parasitic worms and can have rabies, so be careful of wild animals. But domesticated, they are pretty smart, and decent pets.

Oh, same teacher had a pet skunk, called Pepe. He was a nice guy, too. (Of course he was deweaponized, descented by a local vet.)

I enjoyed my time with both Pepe and Ray.

We got an outdoor camera for the cat shelter, mostly so we could see when Tux was in residence and avoid scaring him off. We discovered that besides Tux, we are also feeding two extremely large raccoons.

If we manage to catch them in the act, we yell at them through the camera to beat it. So now when they jump up onto the porch of the shelter, they look warily around to see if the black box is going to start making noise.

Was that loud “thud” my world-view being knocked asunder? Or just a raccoon tipping over a garbage can?

I set up motion-sensing video cameras to figure out how the raccoon kept getting into the house through the magnetically-latched cat flap. The video showed the raccoon looking nervously over his shoulder as he snagged the edge of the flap with his claws and pulled the door open.

He got so bold about it that I had to take action. I put a vacuum cleaner inside next to the door and plugged it into a remote controlled switch. The next time I heard him rummaging around the kitchen, I shouted and flicked the switch. The roar of the machine probably happened just as he was clearing the flap on the way out. Didn’t see him inside after that.

The trick is being smarter than a raccoon, which is NOT as easy as that sounds. (The people who designed the cat flap latch were NOT smarter than a raccoon.)

I live on 23 acres of land with other large properties surrounding me. We have all kinds of wild critters here. When I got up this morning, I saw four deer in my back yard. Last I checked, they were in the small clearing, laying down and chewing cud. We don’t hunt here so they feel safe.

My home wi-fi is still out and I’m logging in from the public library, bless’em. I miss the Mega-Orb so much, you guys are the closest thing to a community I have. I’m looking for things to get out of the @*#1! house!!! (book clubs, that kind of thing) & not finding much locally even with the virus restrictions mostly off. I spend a lot of time at my new storage which I hope to reorganize and use as a girl cave (“she shed” sounds like a grooming place for Foxy & other fluffy floofs)… I’ll be back, running out of time here, see you soon!!
