Did they get fooled into buying fake earbuds (to look just like their real ones)?

Wireless earbuds + first battery drain = fake earbuds.
Not to mention insulting ones. I’m really going to engage with someone who tells me at the onset that I know nothing on a given topic, even if it happened to be true.
I’d try this with my wife but she’d just tell me to take the earbuds out before she tells me all about a show I’ll never watch.
