We watched a young eagle take a fish and fly over to some trees leaning out over the lake. He was trying to stay in the tree while holding onto the fish and eating the fish. First the fish fell into the lake (that fish KNOWS there IS a higher power!) then the eagle fell into the lake. He managed to get back into the air. I’ve never seen a bird look so disgusted.

There is an Asian market near me that has a tank of live cat fish. You pick out he one you want and they will cut it up into fillets or whatever for you.

Crabby Bills in St. Pete used to have a claw machine with live lobsters. I can’t remember if it was $2 or $5 a try, but if you caught one, they would prepare it and serve it for free.

Eagle eyes are watching you…..

The kid is obviously very Talon-ted.

Those things are a gimmick. When have you ever seen anyone catch anything?

So – what happens if he wins and the door opens, jack pot?

The birders would point out the juveniles don’t get the white for three years. However, most viewers would ask what kind of bird is junior?

Piranha?

The fish are safe. Those grapple things never work.

I like the cartoon, Dave, except that bald eagles do not get the white head feathers until they mature. The juveniles are all brown so they can hide.

I’ve been checking in with an eagle on her nest out in Big Bear Valley, Calif. nearly every day. I was surprised this week to see it had snowed but it’s gone now.

That bird has talonet.

Bald eaglets are black all over.
