What about Hamish MacPherson? I like it! It was my great-grandfather's name... They called him Ham for short. That's so cute! Plus, there aren't any other kids around here named Ham, so it will be confusing for us! Except at holiday dinners. Huh? Pass the Ham, please. Which one? The baby or the entree?

I love the name. So original and yet names after someone special who’s long gone to keep the originality.

According to Sherlockians, Hamish was the middle name of Dr. John Watson.
In the first story, his name is given as John H. Watson. In a later story, his wife calls him “James.” Hamish is the Scottish form of James.
